Upper Trinity Regional Water District Notice
Published: July 18, 2022
Earlier today, the City of Celina received the following information in a memorandum from our water services provider, Upper Trinity Regional Water District (UTRWD). Due to the damage of a transmission pipeline that serves municipalities in their portfolio, the pipeline will have to be shut off for repairs next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (July 19 - 21).
While the memorandum asserts that water customers should not experience any disruption to their service, they have requested that all outdoor watering be prohibited next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. During these three days, UTRWD states that water will be pulled from two additional facilities to service impacted municipalities.
As Celina residents have graciously done during these hot summer days, UTRWD asks customers to make every effort to conserve water during these pipeline repairs. Thank you, in advance, for your understanding and cooperation. Again, the City of Celina expects no water service interruption next week.

Chapman Lake Pipeline to be Taken Out of Service
As you may be aware, there is a significant leak on the Chapman Lake 84-inch raw water transmission pipeline (owned and operated by North Texas Municipal Water District and the City of Irving). The repairs are scheduled for Tuesday through Thursday of next week (July 19 to July 21) and require the pipeline to be taken out of service. UTRWD will be relying on water from the Taylor Water Treatment Plant and the Harpool Plant on-site emergency water supply lake to serve its Northeast Denton County customers during the repair.
We're asking that each customer prohibit all outdoor watering during these 3 days - this action is necessary to ensure there is sufficient treated water for essential use. We understand this is untimely, but the pipeline must be taken out of service to make the repairs. The District has been assured that the pipeline will be returned to service as soon as possible.
All customers are encouraged to continue their outreach efforts to reduce water usage. If everyone continues to do their part, there will be enough water to go around. For operational issues, please contact Ben Hodges at (469) 635-8500. During the repair, we'll make sure to keep you informed of the progress. Your cooperation during this time is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
